The process of fusion splicing is to take two exposed bare fibers and aligning them by the core with special
equipment. Once it is aligned, an electric arc is applied to the ends to create one fiber with a low loss splice. The
reason why this is so desirable is to achieve low loss in splicing, factory pigtails, and long distance fiber
links. In the end, fusion splicing is part of the total loss budget calculations for a particular link. R & T
Networking Solutions utilized all the tools, including the fusion splicer, for a complete fiber installation.
